From Swamp to Tank

Our Chimney Process
At Coonass Crawfish Creations, every chimney we offer is the real deal—hand-selected and carefully prepared to create a safe, natural habitat your crawfish will actually use.
We don’t mass-produce. We don’t use molds.
Each piece is built by nature—and finished by hand.

Step 1:  Natural Sourcing
We collect authentic crawfish chimneys from natural environments, ensuring each one has the structure and character crawfish instinctively recognize.

Step 2:  Careful Selection
Not every chimney makes the cut.
We choose only solid, well-formed pieces that will hold up in an aquarium setting.

Step 3: Cleaning & Preparation
Each chimney is thoroughly cleaned to remove loose debris and unwanted material using methods designed to be safe for aquarium use.

Step 4: Curing & Drying
The processing technique for Aqua-Safing each chimney is standardized. However, the time each item takes to fully cure and be available for shipment varies drastically by size. For an average size chimney, (sm/med pellets) 3-5" tall, a fully cured crawfish chimney will take 3- 3 1/2 weeks.  Larger pellets take longer as do Barrels, Towers and Weights.

Step 5: Final Inspection
Before shipping, every piece is inspected to ensure it meets our standards for quality, safety, and usability.

Why This Matters

✔ Safe for aquarium environments

✔ Encourages natural hiding and burrowing behavior

✔ No artificial molds or replicas

✔ Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind

What to Expect

Because these are natural, handcrafted items:

Size, shape, and color will vary

Small imperfections are normal

No two chimneys are exactly alike

That’s part of what makes each one special.

Before You Add to Your Tank:

We recommend giving your chimney a quick rinse before placing it in your aquarium and monitoring water conditions during initial placement.
